Today's Daily Lesson comes from 1 Samuel chapter 14 verses 6 and 7:
Jonathan said to the young man who carried his armour, ‘Come, let us go over to the garrison of these uncircumcised; it may be that the Lord will act for us; for nothing can hinder the Lord from saving by many or by few.’ 7His armour-bearer said to him, ‘Do all that your mind inclines to. I am with you; as your mind is, so is mine.’
We carry the armor into the day today.
The belt of truth which girds all we do. The breastplate of righteousness which keeps us noble and above reproach. The shoes that make a pathway for peace. The shield of faith, which keeps us from being pierced by life's slings and arrows. The helmet of salvation, which guards our minds and keeps us from thoughts which would sabotage us. And the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of the Lord, which empowers us to face even the mightiest of foes in the battle for the soul of this country and world.
We are the armor bearers. We bear the armor of the Lord into the field. We walk beside the Lord, and are honored to carry his strength into the battle.
Jonathan said to his armor-bearer, "Come, let us go . . . for nothing can hinder the Lord from saving by many or by few."
Even if we are few, the Lord is with us; and His armor sufficient for the day at hand.
