Daily Lesson for April 5, 2021

Today's Daily Lesson comes from Acts chapter 2 verses 22 through 24:

22 ‘You that are Israelites, listen to what I have to say: Jesus of Nazareth,* a man attested to you by God with deeds of power, wonders, and signs that God did through him among you, as you yourselves know— 23this man, handed over to you according to the definite plan and foreknowledge of God, you crucified and killed by the hands of those outside the law. 24But God raised him up, having freed him from death, because it was impossible for him to be held in its power.

We live on the other side of Easter and we are an Easter people.

This means we are people who hope and believe in God's goodness and God's righteousness. We believe in God's power, and God's sovereignty.

The LORD is the ruler of this earth; and our hope is in the LORD.

The forces of evil colluded with one another to destroy Jesus. But the LORD raised Jesus up. The LORD freed him from the power of death. And this is our sign -- evil cannot prevail over good. And in the end, love and kindness, justice and goodness win.

That is the meaning of Easter. And we are an Easter people.

A hymn always says it best:

"This is my Father's world:
O let me ne'er forget
That though the wrong seems oft so strong,
God is the Ruler yet."

God ruled over wrong at Easter. May the hope and certainty of God's Easter victory live and dwell in us throughout this whole season and year.

We are an Easter people. And Easter was yesterday and will be at the end of days as well.
