Daily Lesson for November 5, 2021

Today’s Daily Lesson comes from Revelation chapter 15 verses 2 and 3:

2 And I saw what appeared to be a sea of glass mixed with fire, and those who had conquered the beast and its image and the number of its name standing beside the sea of glass with harps of God in their hands. 3And they sing the song of Moses, the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb . . .

The faithfully departed souls sing as witness in the heavens. They sing the song of the Lamb — a song of victory written in the voice of the slain — and the song Moses — a song of the Rock in the weary, weary land.

The world is harsh and unkind and the cruel.  The Lamb is young and dies an untimely and tragic death.

The Rock is old. Eons old. Moses sings of it in his last day. He knew the Rock for 120 years. His mother sang of the Rock to him in the womb and Shiprah and Puah laid him on the Rock when he was born. The Rock is the God of the aged, the ones who have seen it in the desert pour water hidden for a billion years.

The Rock. The Lamb.

The Saints. All Souls.

There is something in these days of November for all who have died or seen someone they love die — young or old, pure as the Lamb or cracked and shattered as the Rock.

“Thou wast their Rock”

And their Lamb too.

And the song is sung in heaven, and its echo heard and felt here too.

And there is peace, and some consolation.
