Today's Daily Lesson comes from 2 Corinthians chapter 6 verses 11 through 13:
11 We have spoken frankly to you Corinthians; our heart is wide open to you. 12There is no restriction in our affections, but only in yours. 13In return—I speak as to children—open wide your hearts also.
If our hearts are open, we can heal the world.
If our hearts are open, we can not only hear but also listen.
We can understand and empathize. We can love each other as our faith compels us, and choose to walk together.
It is not a matter so much of mind. It is not a matter of belief. It is never a matter of fact! It is a matter of the heart. And our hearts are either open or closed to one another, embracing or rejecting.
There is a beautiful poem by Israeli writer Yehuda Amichai who before his death in 2000 worked with Palestinian writers and put into words the spirit of an open heart and an open future.
The title of the poem is "The Place Where We are Right". The opening lines are as follows, with a link to the rest of the poem in the chat:
From the place where we are right
Flowers will never grow
In the spring.
