Today's Daily Lesson comes from John 14 verses 25 and 26:
‘I have said these things to you while I am still with you. 26But the Advocate,* the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you everything, and remind you of all that I have said to you.'
As the people of God we can walk with confidence and in trust that God give us what we need to make our way in this challenging and oftentimes adversarial world. The words we need are already within us. The courage we must have is already inside us. For the Spirit is in us; and we trust it to be our teacher, and our guide, and our friend. We also trust it to be our wisdom and our way.
The Spirit is our teacher and our guide and our companion for the journey. The Spirit reminds of God's words and promises and leads us where we need to go. We can trust the Spirit; and we can trust ourselves in the Spirit.
The prophet Isaiah says:
"Though the Lord may give you the bread of adversity and the water of affliction, yet your Teacher will not hide himself any more, but your eyes shall see your Teacher. 21And when you turn to the right or when you turn to the left, your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, ‘This is the way; walk in it.’"
The way is before you. It is inside you. The Spirit is inside you.
Trust it, and be not afraid.
